Background Born in Pontiac, Michigan to American Immigrants
Father left the Ottoman Empire and came to Pontiac in 1912 Mother fled the Armenian Genocide of 1915 Has 1 older sister and 1 younger sister High School: Pontiac Central High School College: University of Michigan Medical School Worked at Henry Ford Hospital, University of Michigan Medical Center, Saratoga General Hospital Specialized in Euthanasia medicine Over a period of decades he developed several controversial ideas related to death Had the idea of using death row inmates for medical purposes after the Supreme Court re-instituted the death penalty As a pathologist he experimented with transfusing blood from the recently deceased into live patients Started advertising in a Detroit newspaper as a physician consultant for “death counseling” Was also a jazz musician and composer Def: the practice of intentionally ending a life in order to relieve pain and suffering.
