2. Marking Criteria
The next couple of slides explain the marking criteria
This should remain at the beginning of your workbook for you to refer to.
There are four categories: Development, Experimentation, Recording and Final Resolution. You are given a mark out of 24 for each category.

3. Marking Criteria: Development
How well developed is your work?
Is there depth and quality in research and written comments?
Have you achieved good practical outcomes through trial, error and perseverance?
Have you used appropriate terminology and language in your written work?

4. Marking Criteria: Experimentation
Have you engaged in the process of reviewing and refining your work?
Have you worked with a range of appropriate methods and techniques? (for example different ways of shooting and editing)

5. Marking Criteria: Recording
What do you think about the quantity and quality of images produced?
Have you reflected on your work and your progress, noting areas for improvement as you progress and tried to achieve better results?

6. Marking Criteria: Final Resolution
Does your work show a personal, informed and meaningful response?
Have you delivered a coherent project which shows developing skills, answering a brief and making connections with other artists?
How well have you realised your intentions and how well have you presented them?

8. Homework 1 : Historical and Contemporary Examples Photograms
1.Find two photographers who made photograms before 1950 and two photographers who have made them after this date – 4 photographers in total! 2. Find 2 examples of photograms for each photographer and analyse them 3. Write on the slide what you find visually appealing about the photograms. (see next slide as an example.) 4. When you are finished you will have written about 8 different images. Use this website below to help you (it has interesting videos you can watch too) There is also a book called Shadowcatchers that you can use in the library – just ask at the desk

9. Example of how you might write about your research images
Laszlo Moholy Nagy
Pre 1950 July 1895 – November 1946
I find this photogram appealing because of the use of simplistic shapes and clear outlines. The shapes have a ‘3D like’ feel around them and so the image has a feeling of depth with the lighter parts in the background and the darker parts in the foreground.
The photogram is positive – the dark parts have turned white and the white parts have turned black – giving it more of a realistic look. The composition of the piece also interests me because of the varied focal points, the dark ‘dots’ at the centre of each shape create a point of interest.
The sharp straight lines also add to the ‘industrial’ and harsh look of the photogram making it feel more clinical and clean because of the lack of blur. The paler shapes in the background due to multiple exposures give the photogram an extra element and makes the image more intriguing.
