INTRODUCTION
PAKDEX is a high molecular weight biopolymer produced at Centre for Molecular Genetics,University Of Karachi, Pakistan. It is a biopolymer composed of D-glucose units linked by α-1, 6 glycosidic bonds in a linear arrangement. Has large number of applications in food, chemical and pharmaceutical industry. It has clinical use as a blood extender (replacement of blood plasma during excessive blood loss) It can only be obtained by bacterial source and this is the reason that it is environment friendly and cost effective technology, even the by-products are of use.
