5 Learning in practice settings is invaluable for students.
risk-averse - disinclined or reluctant to take risks Realistic experiences Imparting knowledge of these decision making processes to support learning. Nursing is an action profession, that nurses learn by doing  We need to be readily open to innovation and challenges to routine practices.

6 Students look forward to their clinical placements to learn within the context of reality nursing.
The acquisition of knowledge leads to an increase in confidence levels that subsequently reduced anxiety. This enhances the learning process and is dependant upon the collaborative support and facilitation in the clinical learning environment.

7 I decided to come to livewell because I felt supported as a student by the organisation prior to starting . Ie breakaway training and system one training etc. Also the ward I now work on was one of my placements in 1st year where I felt well supported by both my mentor and other staff who valued my role as a student and respected my supernumerary status and were willing to spend time teaching me. Cara

8 The team I had my placement with were under a great deal of stress with reducing staffing.
However one of the main reasons I enjoyed my placement besides or the normal stuff… Good learning, good support, courses, they were really caring and compassionate for each other. I was welcomed every day with this from everyone. Amber

9 I had some negative experiences in some placement areas
In one area I wasn’t able to participate in a medicine round because I was only in my second year . Sometimes some of the placement areas were too protective My most enjoyable placements were the ones who threw me in at the deep end but were right beside me to help me along the way . Natasha
