Having a plan to develop and maintain a positive school culture is key and must be ongoing Attending and speaking at your initial season parent and student meetings is key in delivering philosophy, mission, goals and general school/program expectations Great opportunity to identify philosophy and expectations of education based athletics Great opportunity to model for your coaching staff

Student athlete expectations What is the message that is being delivered? Understanding of education based athletics Purpose of athletics Ideals of sportsmanship, and 6 core principles: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and good citizenship

No different than your visibility in classrooms and Just as important Supervision at events, who is monitoring student and parent behavior? Use a team approach to get systems in place Stay ahead of the game Walk the Talk

Coverage during games only is not enough Coaches are put in a vulnerable position Proper initial treatment of injuries is sometimes critical The district is ultimately responsible
