2. Write a 3-5 pages long paper Excluding the references on a one of the topics listed below, Clearly spell out the risks and benefits of the issue selected and evaluate the risk/benefit ratio. Give support for your position. The references should include at least 5 significant sources other than your text. The topics are:
Asbestos - PCB’s - Food Preservation by Irradiation - Organic vs Inorganic Gardening - Food Additives – Paper or Plastic Packaging – Artificial Sweeteners – Animals and Drug Testing – Stringent Character of FDA Ruling – Stringent Character of EPA Ruling – Agriculture and Genetic Engineering.

3. 10‐12 minutes presentation in group of two, followed by 3 minutes of questions.
The presentation should deal with a chemistry relevant topic in our
society/everyday’s life.
Past year topics (To name few): The Chemistry of wine, photography, tires and
polymers, tattoos, make‐up, perfumes, baby milk, hand sanitizers etc…..
You will be judged on the following points:
Structure of the presentation (Flow)
Organization of the talk: Introduction / Discussion / Conclusion
Visual appeal of the slides
The use of relevant figures/schemes/tables/data
The Scientific content: description of concept and relevant examples
The communication skills: concise language, presentation skills etc...
The ability to answer questions relevant to the topic
