Year 2- Reading Books will be changed on a Tuesday afternoon
2 new books will be given Children need to remember to give their reading folders in Any reading at home please record in their reading record. Please ask your children questions about what they have read. By the end of Year 2 they are expected to read fluently an age related book. (Gold band)

Year 2 Homework- Maths Maths homework goes out every other Friday
Due in the following Friday If not completed children will complete during their lunch times. If support is needed please ask Mr Newlands Maths homework is linked to what they have been learning about during the week.

Year 2 Homework- Spellings
New spellings will be handed out every Friday They will be tested the following Thursday. Please practise with your child at home in a variety of different ways. They need to know how to use the work in context, not only how to spell it! Spellings will be linked to what we are learning in phonics.

Maths Passports- Done every morning starting at 8.40- 8.55am
Children have opportunity to practise independently and then will get quizzed. Certificate will come home with new targets. Great way to practise mental arithmetic skills.

Year 2 SATS- May 2018 Year 2 is a SATS year,
They help support my teacher assessment They are done in smaller groups Will be completed throughout May There are 2 maths papers: Arithmetic paper and a Reasoning Paper There are 2 reading papers: Reading 1 and Reading 2 (Reading 2 is more challenging)

Class Dojo We use class Dojo in Year 2 for assessment and for behaviour management. Children earn points through the day for a variety of different things. Children get to line up first at the end of the day if they have the most and earn 3 house points for their team.
