The Catholic Church supported baroque, because of the anti-reformation that had begun Baroque architecture was a propaganda tool of Church [1]

- People liked to make sceneries - Illusionism (People liked supernatural things) - Dynamicity - The passions, the extremes of suffering and violence - The diversity of phenomena [1,2]

The portrait is of Susanna Lunden who is a sister of Rubens' wife Helena Fourment. [4] The standard of beauty of baroque is obscuring. The standard requires people to be big because the bigger you are, the more money you have. [3]

This piece of art gives us a narcissistic body image. The picture seems to be of a young Baroque woman who stares at her own mirror image in a narcissist manner. When it comes to art, men are pretty much same looking as women (Please don't get this wrong) [3]
