Topic-based learning EYFS Goals & National Curriculum Numeracy D & T
Super heroes, cities and celebration Topic 2, Castles and Kingdoms Topic 3, The Great Outdoors Numeracy D & T Literacy Humanities Physical Development Music Science ICT RE Art There are 6 areas of learning in FSU. In KS1, these are the curriculum areas that we cover and we shall be taking a topic-based approach so that we meet the objectives of these subjects in a creative way as possible. For example, we plan to do ‘The Great Fire of London’. This will cover report writing in literacy, research in ICT, art re ‘warm colours’ and fire pictures, history, geography re location of the fire and the usefulness of the river’s location, science re Light and dark. Where subjects cannot be covered we will address these discretely. Each half term, we shall change the topic so that we move from a history focus to a science focus etc.
