Philosophy To provide a creative and stimulating environment in which pupils develop a love for learning. We aim to give pupils a toolbox of skills which they can apply to many different situations. This year we are focusing on developing a creative and hands-on approach to learning, in which children are encouraged to be independent and imaginative thinkers. Learning through drama, play and the outside environment will be planned in order to support this focus. This will run through all areas of the curriculum alongside independent working activities.
4
Pupils are encouraged to take pride in their work and work successfully in all situations including in teams, individually, supported by an adult or working independently. The teachers and teaching assistants work closely together to plan work so that every child across the year can access the same curriculum at the level that is appropriate for their needs.

The School Day Throughout the week we teach Literacy, Numeracy, Guided Reading, Handwriting, Phonics, Topic including Geography, History, Science, RE, PE and PSHE. Spellings Spellings will be sent home, tested fortnightly and will be linked to high frequency words and spelling patterns being learnt in school. Linked to phonics groups. Spelling tests will occur on a Wednesday starting 30th September.

Times Tables Times tables will be tested on a fortnightly basis.
These will be carried out within Maths groups at the individual child’s level. You will soon find a maths pack in your child’s diary with a counting card or times tables card. This will be signed when they have scored 10/10, and let you know what they are working on.
11
Targets Your child will receive a Writing and Numeracy target each term. Targets will be set in maths groups. These targets are available for each child to refer to when working.
