Dependency for basic requirements – milk, fruits, vegetables etc., Growing trends towards clustering of Rural areas into Urban 150kms. Need for Extensive Collaborative mechanisms for Sustained economic growth

Can we double it in the next five years. Yanam, Mahe, Karaikal and Pondicherry to have balanced, integrated and sustained growth

Mission 1 : 100 % Literacy Target: By 2009 – achieve 100% literacy About 1.8 lakh people to be educated Resources: Schools – 894 One Central University with 40 affiliated colleges The Medical college Action Plan Launch a Literacy mission and movement with students participation: 20,000 college students and 80,000 high school students to take a mission to train at least three persons to read and write. Pondicherry Government can facilitate this as a movement

Need to inject a dimension of entrepreneurship Use of IT for Tele-Education will provide speedy multiplier effect for delivery of the above to large number of people in our country. ENLIGHTENED CITIZENS Virtual University Village Panchayat Knowledge Centers School Dropouts ~35% ~Nil
