How to become a biochemical engineer
Kaylee's Career Path How to become a biochemical engineer
2
My Career Goals I want to become a biochemical engineer by 2024
To get there, I will need to: Graduate high school by June of 2019 Get into post secondary Study chemistry, biology, physics and bio engeneering As well as algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus and organic chemistry.
3
What is a BioChemical engineer?
Biochemical Engineers Develop usable, tangible products, using knowledge of biology, chemistry, or engineering. Solve problems related to materials, systems, or processes that interact with humans, plants, animals, microorganisms, or biological materials. What a biochemical engineer may do in the day 1.design work. They must conduct studies on cells, proteins, viruses, or other biological substances to determine optimal conditions for growth or inhibitors that can stop or kill. 2.biochemical engineer will need to work with others in process and product development. 3.responsible for documenting their work and their results. 4.maintaining data repositories that allow for analysis of the various compounds worked with and the resultant effects, engineers can use previous data to outline possible future models.
4
About my future career recent graduates will usually work with experienced biochemical engineers and will receive formal seminar training from their new employer. As a new engineer is able to gain experience, they will be assigned more complex projects to develop new designs. Biochemical Engineers earn a median hourly wage of $ Hourly wages typically start from $25.01 and go up to $ Biochemical Engineers earn a median salary of $95,900 per year. Salaries typically start from $52,010 and go up to $150,830. Many biochemical engineers work regular hours, and then some to meet deadlines
5
My job has a 1-10% chance of becoming automated
Because it requires original thought contemplative thinking and complex solutions Not to mention you'd have to create things that don't exist yet
6
BioChemical Engineering would be great for me because…
I already have these skills for this career: the ability to think analytically and solve problems, an aptitude for science and mathematics, the ability to visualize complex processes and equipment, creativity and persistence and a willingness to improve their knowledge and skills on an ongoing basis
7
I am not quite ready for this career, but I will get there!
These are skills for the job I still need to learn: This is how I will get those necessary skills: good oral and written communication Practice consult, and learn through not be able to get away from Adjusting actions in relation to others' actions. Make sure I tell people my adjustments and make sure they tell me theirs
8
This is what appeals to me with this career…
I can create things that will contribute to a better world for the earth and its inhabitants I can easily branch out to new jobs and I will end up working with a lot of people in a lot of different fields. So I will make connections. CHEMISTRY AND BIOLOGY
9
These are some things I find less appealing about this career…
Working inside As long as I'm not sitting 24/7 I think that's it
10
Potential obstacles to getting this career
The possible obstacles: My plan to overcome them: Money for the education Working My anxiety Transportation Driving or busing
11
Potential obstacles to being successful within this career
The possible obstacles: Creative road block My plan to overcome them: I know what I do to get over this but it's to long to write here Being insecure about my abilities Try harder
12
The training/education required for my career is:
Bachelor's Degree in Biochemistry Biology Chemical Engineering Mathematics Thermodynamics Recommend (unstated level) Physics Chemistry
13
I intend to go to sfu for that career
515 West Hastings Street, Vancouver, BC Canada V6B 5K3 BioChemistry Bachelor degree of science 4 years 2,800$/1 year
14
Here is where I can get that:
High 80% average admission for most sciences 2,800
15
Financial Plan I am going to pay for my program:
My family has put money away for my post secondary. And I will be applying for scholarships as the type of education I want as well as saving up a fair amount of my own money
16
High school courses required
Grade 11 courses: Grade 12 courses: Physics, chemistry, Chemistry, biology, algebra, geometry, calculus
17
BioChemical Engineers are awesome!!!
a biochemical engineer helped to develop a recipes to make yogurt that contains live cultures that benifites your bodies over all function 76% of biochemical engineers have a bachelors degree 14% have a masters and 10% have a doctorate 0.5% of the American population are biochemical engineers
