English 6 non-fiction genres including non-chronological reports, balanced arguments, explanatory, instructional, recounts (newspaper reports) and persuasive. 4 different forms of poetry including Cinquains, poetry from World War One, personification and using forms of imagery. Fiction genres including suspense/mystery, extended narrative, fantasy, quest, traditional tale. Reading comprehension and grammar, spelling and punctuation.

Maths Number: quick mental recall of times tables up to 12x12, long multiplication and division, calculating with money, using relationships between operations to solve problems, rounding and knowledge of place value. Fractions, decimals and percentages: equivalence, simplifying fractions, comparing and ordering, addition and subtraction of fractions. Geometry & measures: 3D and 2D shapes and their properties, units of measurement and conversions, solve problems involving measurements, calculate areas and volumes. Statistics: interpret and construct pie charts and line graphs, calculate and interpret the mean average. Number pattern & algebra: use simple formulae, find missing numbers, solve pairs of equations.

SATs This year, the key stage 2 tests are timetabled from Monday 14 May to Thursday 17 May 2018. Children will sit tests on English Reading, Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling and Mathematics. There will be the option of a free breakfast on test days. We will arrange a meeting to discuss SATs in more depth in the spring term.

Secondary School Applying for a school place
You will be able to apply for a secondary school place to start in autumn from Monday 11 September 2017. Applications can be completed on the Leicester.gov.uk website. Transition Days take place in late June and July. Check individual school websites for open day/evenings.
