Aims of the evening To share the expectations in Writing for the end of Reception. To share how we teach Writing in school. Ways to help at home.

Literacy ~ Writing Early Learning Goal
Children use their phonic knowledge to write words in ways which match their spoken sounds. They also write some irregular common words. They write simple sentences which can be read by themselves and others. Some words are spelt correctly and others are phonetically plausible.

Writing at home Be good talkers
Model writing ~ lists, labels, captions, letters, notes Describing games - ‘Guess who’ / ‘Pictionary’ Tongue twisters / alliteration Use of different stationary ~ papers, pens, stampers, foam/magnetic letters etc Handwriting ~ chalk, sand, mud, water and paintbrush, cornflour, playdough etc Play ‘I spy’ Enthasis the language used in stories
