DOM integration meeting
October Daan van Eijk
2
actions from previous meeting
(Minutes were never sent but are here: Daniele: Status of retuned HV on 6 PMTs in DOM67 Write NCRs on ARCA-DU3: Orientation of conical spring washers in DOMs wrong way around (include old drawing on which this mistake was based) Wrong cooling pads in DOMs or cooling paste used in DOMs instead of cooling pads Emanuele: Pour gel in one DOM first, assess the quality of the gel and report back before going ahead with DOM integration Weekly report suggests this has happened on DOM201. Is this correct? White gas: Did everyone buy it?
3
Grounding cable DOM159 before DOM107 after DOM159 after DOM107 before
Tentative decision (not official yet): Stop mounting grounding cables in future Remove grounding cables in existing DOMs Please wait for further instructions No change with respect to earlier message: do not close DOMs
4
Other Issues Store all 3D-printed items, i.e. fiber trays, spring holders and PMT support structures in a dark place, to prevent damage from long-term UV exposure. This is written down in DOM design and components document, under QA/QC for all 3D-printed components CLB+PB availability: It might be that some of us can not reach DOM integration tools due to CLB+PB inavailablity Before installing the gap pad on the power board, mount kapton on soldering, see NCR KM3NeT_QA_2016_138 and pictures to the right Idea from Maarten: DOM with color filters in front of PMTs to extract information on absorption lengths in water

Removing grounding cables: proposal
Open, before glueing PMT structure Open, after glueing PMT structure Closed Remove grounding cable ring on CLB side by unmounting screw on CLB (careful for fiber in tray) Remount screw Grab the loose end of the cable with long pliers and pull it up in order to bend away the penetrator side cable from the mushroom as much as possble Cut away (using long cutters) the grounding cable as close to the penetrator as possible (careful for fiber!) Idem, but now you really need long pliers and cutters, and you need to be careful for the glass of the PMTs We need to think if and how we’re going to open all closed DOMs…
