Objectifs: to ask others what they need and tell what you need; to inquire about and buy something

2 How do we ask someone what they need in French?
De quoi as-tu besoin? Qu’est-ce qu’il te faut pour……?

3 How do we express what we need in French?
J’ai besoin d’une calculatrice pour les maths. Il me faut une calculatrice pour les maths.

4 How do we ask someone to lend us something in French?
Tu pourrais me prêter ta calculatrice? Tu as une calculatrice à me prêter?

5 How do we respond if someone needs something?
Tiens./Voilà. = here Désolé. Je n’ai pas de calculatrice. = sorry, I don’t have a calculator

6 How do we inquire about buying something in French?
Je cherche une trousse, s’il vous plait. = I’m looking for a pencil case, please. La trousse, c’est combien? = How much is the pencil case? Elle est à combien, la trousse? = How much is the pencil case?

7 How do we respond politely in French?
Merci, monsieur/madame/mademoiselle. Je vous en prie! À votre service!

8 Scénario 1 You left home in a hurry today and are missing a lot of school supplies. Ask your partner if you can borrow school supplies that you need for three of your classes.

9 Scénario 2 It’s “la rentrée” and you’re at “une papeterie” (stationery store) purchasing items for your different classes. With a partner, take turns playing the roles of the customer and the salesperson. Buy at least three items and be sure to specify what colors the items should be AND how much the items cost.
