STUDENT DEVELOPMENT Vikes Nation Ambassadors-At-Large who log 10 or more hours on MyVolunteerPage will be able to implement interpersonal skills in a public setting as demonstrated by an assessment rubric used during an ambassador meeting at the end of the school year in March. Vikes Nation Specialized Team Members who are assigned a personal project within their team will be able to employ organizational skills as demonstrated by an assessment rubric used during an ambassador meeting at the end of the school year in March. CHALLENGES, OPPORTUNITY, VISION
Create sustainable learning outcomes that will help guide our programming for the Vikes Nation Ambassador Program and help define and improve what our students are gaining from being part of it. VISION Limited time to dedicate to project Challenges Learning opportunities are an enormous opportunity to anchor the Vikes Nation Ambassador Program and keep us on track for continuous improvement. Opportunity Tough to keep messaging “fun” for students Limited time to train other staff Our on-going challenges with social and digital media communication are that We are just starting to make it a priority in creating social media-specific graphics, campaigns and contests but this is still not entirely the norm It’s often one-way Either us just promoting and informing or people asking and talking with little response It’s need to be two ways always! We have many platforms for the department, plus teams and alumni control their own – it’s hard to stay focused on our goals and police the many accounts How do you keep content and conversation constant year round in a school semester setting? OPPORTUNITY we are unique because of our events, our fan base for our student-athletes, Thunder and our new building and programming VISION Grow our brand, Grow Vikes Nation and make our events unmissable!

Being ok with starting small Getting meaningful data to build on Use summer to plan them out (ours are in process of changing for year!) The Digital Age is our number 1 form of Communication not only to the student and campus community but also to the greater Victoria community Social Media – main platforms are Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and SnapChat Websites – Mostly static, relied-upon information with the ability add colour with fresh stories, promotions and high quality graphics Digital Screens – We have the wide network within CARSA as well as Game Day in the performance gym to hit our audiences with high quality, visually impactful messaging, promotions and contests TODAY we are going to focus on SOCIAL MEDIA – what we do, what we have learned and what you can take away!
