Onomatopoeia Words whose sound suggested their meaning.
Ex : The cow sad muuuuuuuuu Ex : The bug sad bizzzzzzzzz

Imagery The use of words or phrases that evoke the sensations of sight hearing tough, smell or taste Ex : I could smell the ocean. Ex : I food taste really bad.

Alliteration The repetion of the same consonant sounds
Ex : My sister had a yard sale. Ex : My dad went to a pawn shop.

Hyperbole Exaggeration to create an effect.
Ex : I am soy rich I don’t have to work no more ever again. Ex : I drive the fast its car in town.

Simile Comparison between two things using like or as
Ex : I am free as a bird. Ex : I smell freedom

Paradox Holding contradictory ideas together in order to point to a deeper truth Ex : I received one million dollars. Ex : I am grateful of my family.

Rhyme When words have the same sounds
Ex : I got fired and my license was expired. Ex : I went down town with the police officers.

Analogy An explanation or description of something unfamiliar or difficult to explain by comparison with something unfamiliar Ex : life is very short. You will never know what could happen. Ex : My mind is like a monkey.

Metaphor A direct comparison between two unlike things without using the words like or as Ex : My mom is sweet like a cookie. Ex : my sister is very cool with me.

Personification Giving human qualities to something no human
Ex : My cheery tree is full of wonders. Ex : My tree is very big.

Antagonist A person who is opposed to, struggles against, or competes with another. Ex : In the movie never back down the bad character is the guys that won the fight. Ex : In the movie Romeo and Juliet the bad guy is the father of Juliet.

Protagonist The leading character, hero, or heroine of a drama or other literary work. Ex : Harry potter is the main character of the story. Ex : captain under pants is the main character in the story.

Foreshadowing To show or indicted beforehand.
Ex : the movie back to the future is a foreshadowing Ex : the movie time cop is a bout the future.

Flashback a device in the narrative of a motion picture, novel, ect, by which an event or scene taking place before the present time In the narrative is inserted into the chronological structure of the work. Ex : I remember when I was a little boy I was a trouble maker. Ex : last Friday was very fun will see a movie.
