Aims to engage with the Exeter Model, especially in relation to planning; to consider issues of planning at the scale of the individual lesson, with examples of good practice; to engage with the key principles of planning such as learning objectives, planning cycles, planning on baseline assessment, planning for homework, National Curriculum implications, resources and learning activities; to recognise the importance of learning objectives, National Curriculum requirements, resources, school/departmental policies and assessment in lesson planning. Objectives know the main features of the Exeter Model and start to understand its rationale and purposes; understand the differences between outline lesson plans, detailed planning notes and annotated agendas; understand that sound planning in geography involves blending several components, notably skills, places and themes; appreciate that the particular context of the school and the varied characteristics of its pupils should be taken into account when planning lessons; recognise that plans should give due regard to intended learning outcomes as well as teaching strategies to ensure quality provision for all pupils; understand how assessment opportunities should be integral to planning, and should be used to guide what happens next. know how to plan appropriate learning activities for the Geography Assignment 1 (Resource Box & Lesson Plans);
