Willow Class Mrs Merrison Supported by Ms Hall Beech Class Miss Hutt Supported by Mrs Doig The home of super learners!

Arriving at School Year 2 pupils are asked to enter through the
Rainbow Room door. We open the door at 8.40. Pupils should be encouraged to be independent and to put their own belongings away such as their: lunch box book bag coat PE bag water bottles Any reply slips, money or other correspondence for the office should be put in the class trays. Once belongings have been organised there will be activities in the classroom to do before assembly.

Year 2 Parent Noticeboard is just inside Rainbow Room door.
Mornings Assemblies Pupils will attend an assembly every day. These usually take place in the mornings and have a different focus. They could be: Whole school Sharing Achievements Singing assembly Own class. Registration is at 8.55am, so ideally we would like pupils to be in the classroom by 8.50am at the latest. This is important as it gives them time to put away their things and to settle calmly into the school day. Please let the office know if your child is poorly so that we can mark the correct code in the register. Year 2 Parent Noticeboard is just inside Rainbow Room door.

Break times Morning break is at for 15 minutes. Pupils also have a healthy snack provided by the school either before or after break time. Please provide fresh water everyday in a named water bottle. Lunch is at 12 noon. Free hot lunches continue as before. Parents providing a packed lunch are asked to remember that we are a Healthy School and we ask that the lunch reflects this.
5
Home time We end the day at 3.15pm. Please wait outside the blue gates to collect children. Teachers or TA’s will see children out and will only let them go if we see a wave from the adult collecting. Please check book bags regularly as newsletters or other correspondence could be lurking inside! We cannot let children go with anyone apart from the adult we are expecting. If there is going to be a change you need to let us know at the beginning of the day. There is a whiteboard by the parent’s noticeboard for each class for you to write any changes. If your plans change during the day please contact the school office.

Engagement with your child’s learning is crucial for good progress!
Great expectations... To encourage independence, we invite Year 2 pupils to come into the cloakroom and classroom on their own to put their belongings away. Adults are encouraged to leave their children at the outside door. Reading records: It is vital that children continue to read at home to their parents. Please fill in the record book at least 3 times a week. Spellings: Although pupils are not tested weekly you will be given focus words for the year and term. Big Maths: Pupils take part in Learn It’s and Clic challenges every week. Once marked and analysed they will be sent home so you can see how your child is getting on. Please find time to look at these with your child and help them practise their skills. Engagement with your child’s learning is crucial for good progress!

Please note: All clothing and equipment must be named!
PE Please send in kits on a Monday and leave it in school all week. Pupils need a white t-shirt and blue/black shorts (jogging bottoms in winter). It is also important to have a change of footwear for PE. Footwear: Pupils no longer need a pair of indoor shoes to change into unless you would like them to. However, shoes to be worn in class must be black (please see the updated Uniform Policy) Please note: All clothing and equipment must be named!
