LT-DBA Algorithm In the first phase In the second phase
The OLT will run the normal DBA algorithm to allocate timeslots to corresponding ONUs. In the second phase The LT-DBA algorithm will make the decision to excess grant a particular ONU’s assigned timeslot based on its previous upstream transmission.

OLT will assume that all ONUs are within the same subnet. Empty timeslot received on a particular time interval that is assigned to ONU x. Empty upstream timeslot occurred for ONU x and receives frames from ONU x with destination to ONU y.

Conclusions LT-DBA mechanism incorporated with repeater-based active RNs, which is improve the upstream transmission performance from ONU to OLT.
