Objective To provide new employees with consistent training on software applications and IT practices that have been identified as critical to success within the campus environment. Orientation Sessions Session Description Duration
Introduction to Computing An overview of operating systems, hardware/software, file management basics, printing, internet and listserv resources, and support. 1 hour & Calendaring Outlook interface, messaging basics, printing, Out of Office Assistant, scheduling and responding to meeting invitations, Outlook web access. 2 hours Online Learning Quick tour of Lynda.com, how to access on the web, log in and search for a training topic. Learn how to download practice files and also how to manage a playlist. 15 minutes Communication using Lync Basics of Lync for voice, instant messages, and audio/video conferencing. Computer Security Overview of basics such as passwords, virus protection, VPN, identity theft, malware, and campus security policies. Working with sensitive data and FERPA will also be reviewed. 30 minutes Data Storage using Box.com Short tutorial on Box.com, the University of Illinois’ cloud service storage solution. Set up, log in, upload and download files are among the topics covered.
