The Reality 1. Your student & Cedar Heights need you!
2. It’s not the same level of commitment as elementary school. 3. We desire to have involvement from all families at Cedar Heights.

What does PTSA do? 1. Provide enrichment programs for all students at Cedar Heights. 2. Provide support for Cedar Heights staff. The PTSA provides funding for: Costly science labs (frog dissection) Scholastic News BrainPOP subscription Department mini-grants Student Recognition Programs And much more...

Financial Challenge $100-$300 mini grant per dept. Example:
$300 ~ ₵ Science Dept. Students per student

The Result... 1.Teachers spend their own money teaching our kids.
2.Reduction or Elimination of Enrichment Programs.

How You Can Help Sign up to be on the PTSA board or a PTSA committee.
Participate in fundraisers. Volunteer for events/activities— more parent involvement. See the PTSA table for more info.

Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID)
Elective Class Targets the “academic middle” Support in getting to college 7-12 commitment Provides the skills necessary for success in college: writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization, reading (WICOR) A school philosophy Each kid is college material Each kid can learn at high levels We provide each kid with the WICOR skills necessary for college

Think you can’t afford college? …..Think again! Apply for the College Bound Scholarship, if you meet ONE of these requirements: Are eligible for free or reduced-price lunch Are a foster youth (regardless of income) Receive TANF benefits Meet the family income requirements
