Week 1: Preparation to stop smoking. Agreeing a quit date by the following week Week 2: Discussion on withdrawal symptoms and changing daily routines, to prevent the association with the habit of smoking, smoking triggers, avoiding weight gain, NOT One PUFF rule Weeks 3–5: Mutual encouragement and sharing of experiences relating to quitting, such as coping strategies, avoiding triggers, stress busting Week 6: Staying quit discussion and CO monitor test to validate 4 week quit status We are not AA! 12 month follow up and further support Week 1: preparation for quit date, reasons for quitting, checking pharmacological products, behavioural techniques, previous quit attempts, carbon monoxide monitoring Week 2:quit date, reinforcing reasons to quit, checking pharmacological products, withdrawal symptoms, coping strategies, avoiding risky situations, alcohol, being around smokers, carbon monoxide monitoring Weeks 3–5: discuss progress to date, benefits of quitting, checking pharmacological products, withdrawal symptoms, weight gain, stress management, carbon monoxide monitoring Week 6:relapse prevention techniques, previous experience of relapse, coping with situations (such as holidays, Christmas ,family crisis/bereavement), future strategies, carbon monoxide monitoring, discharge letters Clients will be given a letter and a discharge letter for the complete amount of pharmacotherapy. Clients will not been given a letter if still smoking or blow a score about 7PPM Brief Intervention Training
