2 Air traffic has increased a lot as the number of passengers flying has increased and also due to advancement in aviation sectors. The air space and air traffic is not only occupied by the aircrafts but also by many flying objects like drones and UAVs. The aircrafts have satellite communication among themselves but the real problem arises when these flying objects intercept with the aircrafts that are connected and they send constant signals to the ground station.

3 There are many occurrences of aircrafts colliding with the drones causing a huge damage to the aircraft. The contemporary system uses the ADS-B (Automatic Dependent Surveillance – Broadcast) where the ADS-B equipped aircrafts emits the exact position and Mode S aircraft can be tracked via multilateration (MLAT) when the signal is received by three or more receivers. This technology send the exact location of the aircraft like its latitude, longitude and altitude coordinates.

4 The current expense for making the device to get installed in all the aircrafts and other flying objects would nearly reach $6000 . In order to avert collisions, the current technology would be installing the ADS-Bs in the drones, so that they track the location of the drones and figure it out if the aircrafts and flying objects intercept each other in close proximity. Installing the ADS-B in drones would be quite costlier, as it would be more costlier than the entire cost of drone themselves.

5 A console has been developed which fetches data from flights and drones through AWS/S3/SQS , maps them. It will alert if they are intercepts overlaps each other. This data will be sent to the ground station for notifications. This entire set up can be implemented within $30 which is far more cost effective than ADS-B. By implementing this product, it will be a forerunner for market players in aviation industries.

6 Our project aims at increasing the air travel safety by locating the flying objects in the air space which is a costly affair with ADS-B. By implementing our developed by IoT product and certain regulations for flying objects like installation of GPS enabled devices would greatly help in making the product a huge success in the market at a very low cost of $30. The product here uses an android application to find the coordinates of the flying object in the air space and sends the signal to the AWS/SQS web server which in turn also gets the data from Open Sky API regarding the data about the flights.
