1 Islam in Spain Muslims in Spain P 2
Muslims focused their whole attention on the Al-Andalus, southern Spain. They wanted to build their civilization far superior to anything Spain had ever known. They treated Christians and Jews with tolerance, with the result that many embrace Islam. They also impaired trade and agriculture, patronized the arts, made great contributions to science, and established Cordoba as the most sophisticated city in Europe.

After Ibn-al Ahmars death the Muslim kingdoms were taken over by Christians Only Granada survived Then in 1482 the Muslim kingdom split in half at the same time the two Christian kingdoms merged In 1492 Ferdinand and Isabella “Hoisted the Christian banner over the Alhambra”

Most Muslims stayed in Spain at first where the Christians allowed them to work, serve in the army, own land, and practice their religion In the Spanish inquisition all Muslim rights were removed
