To form a more perfect Union To establish justice To ensure domestic tranquility To provide for the common defense To promote the general welfare To make safe the blessings of liberty to ourselves & our posterity

The Constitution Created 4 Principles of Government
Federalism—a division of power between national & state governments Limited Government—listed very specifically the things that the federal government can do Separation of Powers—divided the federal government into three branches: (a) legislative, (b) executive, & (c) judicial Checks & Balances—restraints were put on the Congress, President, and Supreme Court
