Runtime Architecture (for [a]synchronous processing) Browser CAD Application Other Application Client Tier Application Tier Web Server Servlet Engine Windchill 10.x Integrated Method Server Server Manager Method Server I/X framework The Windchill multi-tier architecture offers the flexibility and options to be deployed with an infrastructure that can support the most demanding distributed collaborative product development processes. This architecture can support users from various departments within the company, as well as users from supplier, manufacturing partner, and customer communities. In 10.0 we enhanced the Application Tier Architecture. Performance is always a key focus for PTC and for Windchill users as they browse and search for product information within their PLM system. In previous releases of Windchill the application server included three separate components: a servlet engine a method server and a search engine. Each of these components required separate administration and monitoring. In Windchill 10.0 we’ve combined these components into the method server to simplify the architecture and to eliminate the performance overhead of intra-process communications between these heavily used components. By combining components, the new Integrated Method Server works more efficiently, responds faster, and takes less effort to administer and monitor. It also means eliminates two components that could potentially be points of failure. TruePLM New capabilities
Out of 230 new TruePLM features, users will benefit in many areas. Only a few example listed here: Import of requirements for each system, using DOORS (Req-IF OMG standards) To enable knowledge management, allow the user to browse through information from several projects simultaneously. RIDs handling Enable configuration control (baselining) of product data/documents Reading and writing metadata to and from office documents Include ESOC and ESTEC document databases Enable the storage and reuse of most commonly needed search criteria Search by level (product structure, hierarchical) and within there by "nature of information", i.e., requirement, design, testing, verification, general requirement, request for deviation Browse through deadlines, deliverables and budget Provide role of document controller Browse through different representations of the same document Ensure that each released document gets a corresponding pdf-file Browse through ICDs and versions of them Check who has downloaded a specific file PLCS-IF Testbed available LOTAR Validation Properties

CaxMan – on-going ( Jotne provides and further develops the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM/SDM) repository in the Cloud for collection and integration of design and simulation data required for additive manufacturing processes. Jotne leads the task of applying and improving relevant standards, particularly ISO 10303, STEP. R&D Portfolio AP242 AP209 IDEaliSM ( ) KBE/SDM like requirements for Aerospace. The IDEaliSM - Development framework for Multidisciplinary Design and Optimisation - solutions lie in three main deliverables: an advanced integration framework for distributed Multidisciplinary Design and Optimisation, an Engineering Language Workbench (a set of domain specific and high-level modelling languages, ontologies and data standards) and a methodology for service-oriented development processes to redefine the product development process and information architecture to enable collaboration between service oriented Competence Centres in Distributed Development Teams

R&D Portfolio CloudFlow – ( Jotne is responsible for the experiment “PLM/SDM in the Cloud”, which was successfully completed in autumn Based on the new Cloud capabilities, Jotne is developing business models for software-as-a-service for their commercial products. Jotne supports CloudFlow partners to apply ISO STEP standards to improve engineering data interoperability. VELaSSCo – Visualization For Extremely Large-Scale Scientific Computing ( Jotne provides a database solutions in the project for big simulation data. The Jotne database is integrated into an architecture for fast retrieval of simulation result data for visualization. Jotne supports VELaSSCo partners to apply ISO STEP standards to improve engineering data interoperability. Here is also a data model for DEM being developed. AP209 AP209
