ETE 335 Elementary Social Studies Lesson Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences Goals: Students will learn about different landforms around the world. Students will utilize multiple resources to create a visual representation of their landform. Objectives: Content/Knowledge: Students will display their knowledge landforms through creating a visual representation of their specific landform. They will present their landform and facts to their peers. Process/Skills: Students will research landforms using a variety of sources (the internet, textbooks, etc.) Students will create a visual representation of their landform using a variety of resources (markers, posters, etc.) Values/Dispositions: Students will discuss information about landforms and reflect on the benefits that each landform has on society.

ETE 335 Elementary Social Studies Lesson Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences Rationale: Not on the United States, but the entire world is covered in a variety of different landforms. This lesson focuses on introducing students to different landforms. It is being used to build the foundation for future lessons on why certain things are produced in certain parts of the world, why people live where they do, etc. Students should have a strong foundation of different landforms to understand future lessons. Standards: State – Illinois Common Core or Learning Standards 17.A.2a Compare the physical characteristics of places including soils, land forms, vegetation, wildlife, climate, natural hazards. National – NCSS Themes Theme 3: People, Places, and Environments

8 * 07/16/96 Verbal/Linguistic Students will present both their visual representation and key facts to their peers and the teacher. They will explain how and why they made their visual in the way that they did, identifying the key characteristics of their landforms. 10 * 07/16/96 Musical/Rhythmic Students will have the opportunity to utilize various YouTube videos for further explanation on their assigned landform. Resources: Computer Access with WIFI *

14 * 07/16/96 Body/Kinesthetic Students will present the information while standing in front of their peers. While they are not required, they can move around freely throughout the classroom as they please. Resources: Space for presentation *

16 * 07/16/96 Interpersonal Students will have the opportunity to work with 1-2 peers. If deciding to do so, they must all contribute to the workload and presentation fairly. Resources: Space to work in groups Computer access with WIFI Access to school library *

20 * 07/16/96 Naturalistic Students will have the opportunity to go out into the community (their playground, school neighborhood) and identify the different landforms they see. They will then identify other landforms they have seen and where they saw them. ETE 335 Elementary Social Studies Lesson Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences Visual Learning and Assessment: Visual Learning, Assessment, and Online Resources: Assessment: Students will be assessed on their learning in a variety of ways. They will be assessed on the resources utilized, quality of presentation, and information presented using a rubric.
