2. Welcome to all and in particular to our visitors to the Workshop on Beryllium Applications and Health & Safety Aspects for ITER

3. Objectives of the Workshop
Promote a Be safety culture and awareness within the ITER Project by organizing this event at the IO and having session(s) opened to concerned IO and Domestic Agency (DA) staff.
Clearly identify the IO internationally as a major user of Be products and a major Be actor in the coming decades.
Share the IO plan on dealing with Be issues to different international Be actors (including DAs, suppliers, manufacturers, users, as well as those involved in Health & Safety and regulations), and obtain valuable feedback.
Learn from the plan, activities and experience of these other Be actors through specific invited presentations and discussion in sessions on dedicated Be topics (lessons learnt/return of experience).
Provide transparency as to the ITER approach on Be safety – sharing the knowledge internally and externally.

4. Use of Information from the Workshop
Information from the Workshop will be used to help finalize the IO overall Be safety procedures, including:
Be worker status and monitoring
Medical surveillance
Training program for Be workers
Guidelines on visiting Be facilities
Be management plan or code of practice
Be lifecycle management

Session 6 - Conclusions/Summary

7. Guidelines to Presenters and Chairs
We are looking forward to the input and feedback from presenters to help prepare the IO for visits to offsite beryllium facilities/manufacturers, for the arrival of beryllium components on site, and to help us to put in place “best practices” to protect workers, the environment, the machine and our neighbours. Guidelines have been sent to presenters to provide more detail along these lines.
Each presentation is scheduled for 30 minutes including questions and discussion. We have asked presenters to plan their presentation preferably for about 20 minutes but for not more than 25 minutes to leave sufficient discussion time.
Guidelines to Chairs
Put together a summary of their respective sessions including the associated discussion which they will be presenting during the Conclusions/Summary Session on June 30.
The objective is to then integrate these different summaries into an overall meeting summary document.

Conference Dinner on June 29 at 7:30 pm at O Zen Restaurant in Aix-en-Provence.
Site Tour on June 30 at 10:45 am – if you are attending, please dress accordingly (no high heels or skirts).
Lunch tickets provided to all external participants
Choose your meal accordingly in the Canteen on the ground floor and hand in your ticket at the teller.
