11 ‘. . . and he also made the stars’ (Genesis 1:16)

12 And then... Why do Christians still believe in Adam and Eve?
(Cranach, 1526)

13 Why do Christians still believe in Adam and Eve?
Implying: “Haven’t science and evolution disproved these old stories?”

14 Don’t you know the snake? You mean – being tempted?
Don’t get bogged down in Biblical interpretation or your views of creation(ism) Counter with a question: Don’t you know the snake? Uh? You mean – being tempted?

15 “Go on.... it won’t matter this once” “No-one will know.....”
You know? That little voice in your thoughts which says things like..... “Go on.... it won’t matter this once” “No-one will know.....” “What can I get away with doing.....”

16 You are on common ground with every honest person who has ever lived!
How do you feel if you’ve let someone down, or done something you wanted to resist? Mm.... guilty? A failure?

17 So you believe in Adam and Eve, then?
So that’s exactly how Adam and Eve reacted! They hid from God. Trust was broken. So you believe in Adam and Eve, then?

18 The ‘snake’ voice often gets at me... and I feel bad afterwards...
Human nature is essentially rotten (look at the news) ... but as a Christian I know God has dealt with that in me once and for all...

19 Because we are like Adam and Eve:
We too break the relationship with God Try to hide things from him And put the whole of creation out of balance So it no longer works the way God intended

20 The whole purpose of God’s one big plan
... is to restore the relationship which we choose to break There are many ups and downs along the way It’s a long story, a big plan Today, remember how amazing we are! (Human beings) That God should love us so much and want us as his friends

21 And eventually to die for us
And eventually to die for us but that’s another story, a long way in the future along God’s one big plan... Next week – Abraham and the start of God’s chosen people
