GREAT BRITAIN It is the official name given to England, Scotland and Wales. It is in the western coast of Europe. It comprises the main territory of the UK, (United Kingdom). UK = Great Britain + Northern Ireland. United Kingdom Great Britain

Elisabeth II Elder daughter of king George VI and Queen Elisabeth, she was born in 1926 and became queen in 1951. She is married to prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh and has four children and eight grandchildren. In the UK the Queen is the Head of State.

He is presently heir to the British Throne, “The Prince of Wales” He is the future king of Great Britain

Buckingham Palace It is where the Queen lives, the main Royal home. It has been the official London residence of Britain´s Monarchy since 1837.

THE BRITISH FLAG The flag of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is called The Union Jack or Union Flag. In this flag there are three flags: English flag: It is represented by the flag of St. George. Scottish flag: Represented by St Andrew. Irish Flag: Represented by St Patrick.

Useful notes on Union flag
The Wesh flag containing the dragon does not appear because when Union flag was created Wales was a principality instead of a small kindgom.

MAIN CITIES ENGLAND Its capital city is London and his national day is on 23 Abril. WALES It´s capital city is Cardif SCOTLAND It´s capital city is Edimburg and His National day is on 11 of 30 November.

Parliament The Parliament consists of the MPs (Members of Parliament), the Lords, and the Queen Elisabeth II. Their job is to make and change the laws and they also check the work of the Government. The Parliament has the Legislature

The Government The Government has the responsability of the country. Their job is that the people obey the laws. The Government ministers are chosen from the lords and of the Members of Parliament from the Parliament.

The Parliament Houses It consists of the Westminster Palace. There are two Parliament houses: The Commons´ House and the Lords´ House.

House of Lords / House of Commons
The lords play a vital role they make laws and keep an eye on the Government decisions. The members of Parliament consider and propose new laws and look to Government politicies. The UK elects 650 members of parlament to represent their interst in the house of commons.
