2. The verb ESTAR Used to say HOW you are
For example, YO ESTOY BIEN, ELLA ESTA CONTENTA
Also used to describe WHERE someone or something is (could be a room of the house, a town, a city or even a country)
YO ESTOY EN EL BANO, ELLA ESTA EN EL HOSPITAL

3. Remember it this way… For how you feel and where you are
Always use the verb ESTAR!
  

4. How to conjugate ESTAR Yo estoy – I am Tu estas – you are
El, ella, Usted esta – he is, she is, you are
Nosotros estamos – we are
Vosotros estais – y’all are (only in Espana)
Ellos, Ustedes estan – they are, you are

5. Prepositions
Prepositions tell us WHERE things are, in relation to other things
For example, The cat sat ON the mat
My bookbag is UNDER my seat
My dog is BEHIND the door, waiting to bite you! 

6. Las preposiciones en espanol
Al lado de – next to
Cerca de – near, close to
Lejos de – far from
Encima de – on top of, above
Debajo de – underneath
Delante de (Enfrente de) – in front of
Detras de – behind
Dentro de – inside
A la izquierda de – to the left of
A la derecha de – to the right of
Entre - between

7. A word about “de” “de” means “of”
A lot of prepositional phrases use “de”
Example, El cerdo hormiguero esta dentro de la casa.
(The aardvark is inside the house)
But watch what happens when we put the aardvark in a museum
El cerdo hormiguero esta dentro del museo

8. So….
If the noun that comes immediately after a prepositional phrase is a MASCULINE noun, we have to change DE + EL to DEL
Example, el conejo esta encima del pupitre
Example, el lapiz esta cerca del diccionario
But we don’t need to worry about this one…
El cerdo hormiguero esta debajo de la silla

Example:
Mi cama esta detras de la puerta.
Mis pantalones estan debajo de la cama!
