Life- the right to live, your right to live is limited in terms of time
Liberty- The freedom to make decisions Pursuit of Happiness- property, security, and happiness property- the right to use your natural talents, abilities, and ideas to improve your life either through self-serving creations or trade.

Individuals would retain these rights even in the absence of government. You have the right to the following: Life Freedom of choice Expression Property Security These are negative rights meaning others have the responsibility not to interfere. Relate the first 3 amendments to contemporary topics.

Amendments 4 through 8 protect the individuals legal rights within the system. The Government has the power to take an individual’s rights of life, liberty, and property but it has the burden of proof. Within our legal system individuals have the following rights: Presumed innocent until proven guilty, the state has the burden of proof Protection against random searches and seizure of your property and self without probable cause The right to remain silent, jury, lawyer, no double jeopardy, due process A fair and speedy trial Relate these amendments to contemporary topics.
