Find a % of a quantity Find 82% of $430.
Step 1 – change the percentage to a decimal. 82÷100=0.82 Step 2 – change the ‘of’ to a ‘times’. 0.82×$430 Calculate and write the answer WITH units. 0.82 × 430 = $352.6 = $352.60 Calculate 12.5% of $675. Calculate 3% of 1,730. Find 16.4% of 6500g Find 93% of 78,390m A clothing retail shop buys in $570 worth of goods silk scarves from a manufacturer in Brazil. GST of 12.5% is to be added on top of the $570. How much GST is added to the amount?

Percentage Increase & decrease Applications
A cookie company normally adds 25kg of sugar to it’s batch of chocolate chippie mix. It has decided to increase that amount by 3.5%. How much sugar is now being added? The cookie company also makes chocolate mint biscuits. It has to decrease the amount of mint essence it adds by 12%. If 3kg of mint essence was originally added to a bulk batch, how much is added after the decrease?
