Make one power point slide displaying all the content of the news and send the ppt slides to teacher.

Anchor the news by reading out the words on the screen.
Videotaping will be processed during the presentation.
Students should download the audio files and texts to practice beforehand.

Looking at the main stories from here in Taiwan this morning.
The government is working with eight chain stores around the island to offer a 10-per cent discount on water conservation products over the next four months. The promotion is part of efforts to encourage conservation among consumers due to on-going concern over low water reserves in many parts of the country. The discount runs until the end of July.

18. Taiwan News (Part 2)
According to the Water Resources Agency, daily water consumption in Taiwan averages 273 liters per person. The agency says annual savings on water bills for three- member could amount to over 1,000 N-T if water conservation devices are used in bathrooms and on taps. The government last year set aside 770-million in subsidies to consumers to buy water conservation products but has changed its approach this year to partnering with chain stores to offer discounts.

Samsung Electronics says its first-quarter profit was better than expected. The quarterly earnings preview showed a jump of 48 percent, with analysts attributing the rise to strong smartphone components. The strong performance comes in spite of the scrapping of its flagship smartphones last year after they overheated and caught fire. A few months later, the company's de facto heir and several top executives were charged with crimes linked to a political scandal that toppled the country's president.
