Renaissance means “rebirth” “re”=again; “naissance”=birth started in Italy and moved to northern Europe Era of achievement in science and arts Age of Exploration Protestant Reformation

The Tudor Period The Renaissance Period can be divided into two eras: the Tudor Period and the Stuart Period Tudor Period=political, economical, and cultural prosperity for England

Henry VII wins the War of the Roses (first Tudor king) Henry VIII = fear of heirlessness Edward VI allowed Protestantism to flourish Bloody Mary hunts down and tortures Protestants Elizabeth I assumes throne after Mary’s death England prospers for many years under her rule
