Location: Absolute & Relative
Absolute Location- looks for the exact location of a place Found using longitude and latitude which is based on Prime Meridian (N to S) and Equator (E to W) Longitude travels (North to South) Latitude travels (East to West)

Relative location- a place’s location in relation to another place Found by using Cardinal directions: North, South, West, East, Northeast, Northwest, Southeast, Southwest

Places Places refer to the features of a given area
Includes physical and human features

Places Physical features include land, climate and bodies of water.

Places Human features include people, culture, buildings, and cities

Human Interaction Human interaction refers to the adaption and modifying of earth by humans

Maps Types of maps: Physical map- shows physical features of a place
Road map- shows directions and roads of a place Political map- shows boundaries of a region, city, state, countries and continents Historical map- information about a place during a certain time Choropleth map- shows the change in a map across an area on the map

Parts of a Map Key- Explains the symbols and shading on the map
Compass Rose- shows the directions on the map (north, south, east, west) Scale bar- shows how much space represents a certain distance Locator map- shows the area on the map located within a larger area
