Unit Summary The students will learn about key events and people during the turbulent Civil Rights Era. Students will examine video, pictures, and primary source documents. Classroom blogs, written assignments, and groups interactive discussions will be utilized to facilitate learning.

Unit Question: What is meant by the term Civil Rights? Content Questions: Where were the various “hot spots” in the country regarding the movement Who were the influential people during this movement? How did the Brown v. Board of Education decision affect segregation?

Try out new methods to make the study of Civil Rights exciting Empower my students to become more aware of issues in the community During this unit, I want my students to Understand how discrimination has affected our country Use technology to communicate with different audiences Learn about the effects of intolerance
