Low Income Residential Energy Conservation Program
Funded by National Grid and administered by AEA, a leader in program delivery, training and technical services designed to improve energy efficiency and housing affordability in NYC. Program Benefits Based on comprehensive energy audits, funding is available for heating system upgrades and replacements, insulation, air sealing, energy efficient replacement windows programmable thermostats and other heating controls.

Program Features ◙ Energy assessments that provide recommended energy improvements with associated energy costs and savings. ◙ Identifying additional funding sources to complete the recommended improvements, including Weatherization funds, loan programs and NYSERDA gap funding. ◙ Coordination with housing regulatory authorities, Weatherization and other State agencies. ◙ Construction oversight. ◙ Energy management systems that assure energy savings opportunities are realized and continue over time.

Program Requirements ◙ This program is open to National Grid firm gas heating customers living in small family (1-4 units) or multi-family (5+ units) throughout Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island and Long Island. ◙ At least 50% of the households in the building must meet income eligibility guidelines. ◙ The National Grid gas account must be firm, rather than interruptible. ◙ The owner must complete an application and provide proof of property ownership. ◙ An investment by the owner is required and is dependent on the combination of programs available for the property.
