What is Nursing? “Nursing, as an integral part of the health care system, encompasses the promotion of health, prevention of illness, and care of physically ill, mentally ill, and disabled people of all ages, in all health care and other community settings” (International Council of Nurses, 2016).

Myths About Nursing In % of nurses were males (United States Census Bureau, 2013). Nurses are within the first 5 occupations that suffer musculoskeletal injuries (United States Department of Labor, 2013). “Nurses are the limbs and doctors are the eyes and brains” (Nursing Degree Guide, n.d.). “Nurses practice in over 200 different specialties” (Cipriano, 2016). “Nurses choose the profession for a variety of reasons, but the close interaction and bonding with patients allows them to make a difference in patients' lives” (Kaplan University, 2016). Only women can be nurses. Nursing is a simple job. Nurses are just the doctor’s helper. All nurses are the same. Nurses are people who couldn’t get into med school.
