2. Before Starting
Clear off your Window’s Desktop by creating a folder named “DesktopBU” and storing all your files in it. This will get rid of all programs on the desktop except the default programs and the ones you want to work with.
Have a very clear idea of where you are going…

3. Start SnagIt
Be certain to set the output file to the directory you will upload to the Internet—this will keep all your files together and make things simpler

Set input to “screen”

Select “Output” to “Catalog Folder”

8. CTRL + SHIFT + P SnagIt Settings
Remember that the “HotKey” to start and stop Video Capture is
CTRL + SHIFT + P

12. General Tips for Good Screen Capture Videos
Try to keep the AVI file to 2 minutes or less
Avoid moving the mouse excessively
Keep the screen as clear of palettes and menus as
possible, so as to focus on what you are demonstrating
Launch palettes, panels, and tool bars as you need them,
not before.
You do not need to show all features during your video.
You will have the opportunity to focus on more
features in your next segment.

13. Getting your file into Director

14. Start Director Start by setting movie properties by choosing Modify
Import your AVI file
Choose standard import
Click add to add AVI file to list, Import

15. Inside Director
You AVI file will import as a member of the ‘Internal Cast’
Start the ‘score’ from the Windows dropdown (on the menu bar)
Start the Stage from the Windows menu bar
Drag your AVI file from the Internal Cast to the Stage.

16. Inside Director Launch the “control panel’ from the window menu bar
Play your video
Save your video as a Director Movie to the same folder as your AVI file

17. Modify Movie Playback Chose Modify, Movie, Playback from the menu bar
Choose
Pause when window inactive
“play while downloading”
Download 40 frames before Playing
Check “show placeholders”

18. Finally,
Choose
File
Preview in browser

19. Take notes!
You will probably want to redo some steps, so take note of where, when and how you will make changes.
