Antonio:numerous amounts of writing and paper assignments. A lot of reading and boring topics.
Marvin: lots of writing & reading
Natalija: intensive writing course about unrelated subjects

3. Project 1: Learning About our Profession
What we expected about being a doctor:
No writing at all
Long hours
Heavy doctor/patient interaction
What we learned about being a doctor:
The importance of clinical and bench research
Medical school requirements and the courses
The writing never ends!
The tough exams after medical school (USMLE 1-3, Boards)

4. Project 2: Investigating Medical Journals
What we thought about medical journals:
Medical jargon is very difficult to understand
Lots of abbreviations
Too many charts and statistical analyses
What we learned about medical journals:
There is a method to this madness (abstract, background, etc.)
Appendices help with abbreviations and jargon
The discussion helps understand the results

5. Project 3: Writing an Article
What we learned:
Labor intensive!
Finding a topic and researching is VERY challenging
We have to justify materials/methods?!
HIC (IRB) & AIC … what are those again?
You don’t actually discuss your results in the results section
Methods and Materials sections have to be very specific

6. Overall Reflections
Antonio: Constructing a literature review, speed of the class, overwhelmed by assignments
Marvin: challenges with APA formatting, scientific articles
Natalija: transition from MLA to APA is difficult, meaning of literature review
