7 SAFETY/TECHNOLOGY FEATURES

8 SAFETY FEATURES Tractor Features
Bendix Wingman Advanced with Full Stability Meritor WABCO OnGuard Collision Avoidance System (2007) Meritor WABCO Roll Stability Control (2005)

9 Why Collision Warning Systems?
Reduce accidents 80% of crashes involve some sort of driver inattention within three seconds before the event (NHTSA) 24% of all crashes involve distracted driving 90% of rear-end accidents can be prevented if we could add one second Just Makes Sense!

10 On-Guard, How does it work?
Adaptive Cruise Control Collision Mitigation System Forward Collision Warning w/Active Braking Provides adaptive cruise for both deceleration and automatic resume Assists driver in maintaining 3.6 second following distance Provides sequential deceleration activation: Torque reduction Retarder control Foundation braking Max decel 35% full brake apply Audible & visual warnings provides detection of developing rear end collisions and alerts driver Stationary object warning “Always on” emergency activation Calculates to determine impending collision Initial Haptic warning Evasive maneuver check Up to 50% full brake apply Functions at speeds > 15mph Auto disengage if driver takes appropriate action Both pre 2014 and 2014 versions of OnGuard feature the Cruise control portion of OnGuard called ACC and the non Cruise or “Always On” feature of OnGuard. The changes from the first generation to the second include an auto aligning radar, and stationary object alert. It is important to note the stationary object is just an alert and no system braking is involved.

11 Display Fascia Cover High resolution screen
Day / Night mode, driver selected Fascia Cover Totally enclosed to prevent snow and ice buildup Robust Design The dash display is now a 4 button display with a day / night feature. The fascia is a solid cover retained with 3 nuts.

12 Roll Stability Control
Detects tractor and trailer instability potentially leading to a rollover or jackknife Works with anti-lock braking (ABS) system Tractor must be going 8 mph or more to engage. Once activated the system removes torque to the engine and if needed will provide braking to the tractor or trailer. Engine Control Retarder Control Brake Control

13 According to Oxford Dictionary, Critical is defined as:
“Critical” Event According to Oxford Dictionary, Critical is defined as: (of a situation or problem) having the potential to become disastrous; at a point of crisis

14 Critical Events Forward Collision Warning Stability Control Hard Brake
Over speed / Excessive overspeed

15

16

17

18

19 Hard Brake Detection of sudden vehicle deceleration
Tractor speed must be above 20 mph Speed decrease of at least 9 mph in less than one second

20 Over speed/Excessive Over speed Alerts
Monitors tractor speed greater than the safe speed for control purposes Over speed set at 77 mph Excessive Over speed set at 80 mph Must exceed for 30 seconds to trigger event

21 Driver Review of CER’s Fleet Manager review
Top Safety Review includes SIMS evaluation & PSC Class Possible Termination

22 Results Rollover Accidents ytd Rear End Accidents (DOT Rec) It only works because of Company wide cooperation!

23 Rollover/Rear End Accidents Per Million Miles
Rollover Accident per 15,770,521 miles per 25,010,204 miles 2016 ytd 1 per 35,953,819 miles Rear End Accident per 45,208,828 miles per 50,020,409 miles 2016 ytd 1 per 67,413,412 miles
