10 Steps – Follow these and you're on the way to Reduced ELFs, 100% ToC and Happy End Users
1 - Before traveling to the PCP, the Engineer run a FastTest 2 to check current condition of the line Gives a good reference point, your test should be as “Good” when you close the job – If it isn’t, check what have you changed 2 - Drive to cabinet and set up RWG as required and check for any damage to the fabric of the PCP. If you find any you must report this to the DCU Sometimes out records are incorrect, so by using a CPI tone, this will ensure you have the correct E and D side for your job – Always make sure its your Circuit on E & D 3 - On opening of the cabinet check that the earth bonding if required is in good condition, if not contact the DCOE or your manager for advice 4 – Confirm E side routing using the correct adaptor lead via 17070,if unable to identify use CLI tone with either DN or OGEA., you must then prove the D side routing by tracing the jumper, don’t take the quoted routing as correct. If you find that this is different from what is quoted on the Job you must take a note of this and update the routing on completion of the task. Its essential that this Sync test is performed, it will identify any potential port failures, DOA and subsequent ELFs that comes as a result. 5 - Make sure you leave the jumper connected at the D-side as a marker. run jumper from correct copper e side to quoted fibre d side pair. 6 - Check dial tone passes through the fibre pairs by testing at the E side fibre pair using either your test phone or by requesting a tone Once you have connected the Fibre E to Copper D, allow 3 minutes since previous test – This stops the test systems sending back a failed Test 7 - Connect your test Rig to the fibre E Side and run GEA service test for SYNC (minimum 3 minutes), FT2 opt 3,1,8,1 - You Must have a fully charged battery pack 50% or more 8 - Run jumper from fibre E side to copper D side but before you connect to the D side copper pair check once more that you have the correct dial tone before proceeding and make sure you have achieved sync on your modem for more than 3 minutes. ( this is really important to allow test system to register a good test.) Complete a “No Break Test, using the correct adaptor leads. Initiate the ECLIPSE test on the actual pair of wires – Note via Fastest. 9 - Connect jumper from E side fibre pair to copper D side pair and Allow 3 minutes since previous test. Using the correct test leads connect to circuit via a “non break” connection , to start the final test, ONLY using ECLIPSE as the first option. Once test initiated remove test leads from the circuit. If you don’t get “GEA service test and no fault found” on the GEA and as “Good “a test as your baseline on the copper results then don’t close the job. Instead check all your work in the PCP. 10 - You will receive 2 Text messages with same time on them. 1 for copper results & 1 for GEA results. If GEA says “GEA service test completed and no fault found.” then close job as complete. FINALLY - Make sure before you leave site you update routing and records if any changes are required and report all defects via a1024
