3 Basic information about Shift2Rail
Shift2Rail initiative - proposal presented by the representatives of the European Rail Industry The proposal covers all parts of the railway system (rolling stock, signaling equipment, railway infrastructure, passenger and freight transport) After discussion with the European Commission was established a joint undertaking S2R with 50% share of EC and 50% share of S2R members.

4 Shift2Rail objectives Cutting the life-cycle cost of railway transport (i.e. costs of building, operating, maintaining and renewing infrastructure and rolling stock) by as much as 50%; Doubling railway capacity; Increasing reliability and punctuality by as much as 50%.

11 Last activities Adoption of the Countil Regulation No 642/2014on 16 June 2014 and entry into force on 7 July 2014 Nomination in July 2014 of an Executive Director and Interim in accordance wirh Regulation and launch of the recruiment of the Executive Director 30 July 2014 : formal establisment of the Shift2Rail Governing Board Launch of the call for Associated Members on 6 October 2014 Deadline for submission of applications for Associate Members S2R – on 12 December 2014 42 candidates submitted their application

12 Last activities - 2 Evaluation of the stage 1 of the call for Associate Members – on 7 April 2015 To stage 2 invited 26 candidates Approval of the document Strategic Master Plan – on 31 March 2015 Call for Associate Members - stage 2 – on 7 April 2015 Evaluation of the stage 2 of the call for Associate Members – on 31 July 2015 For further discussion invited 19 candidates

13 Next steps Individual consultation with pre-selected AMs to determine indicative contribution to the S2R – September 2015 Finalise consultation with pre-selected AMs to determine long-term contribution to the S2R – Mid-October 2015 Commission to launch final decision on S2R JU membership – end of November 2015 Signature of individual membership agreement by all JU members (FM + AM) – November 2015 Approval of membership agreements by the Governing Board - December 2015 Launch first call for proposal for JU members - December 2015

14 Conclusion The evaluation process of candidates for Associate membership is delayed Call for AM - stage 2 - among the candidates invited to the discussion are also AZD Prague and CD/VUZ (within EUROC) Call for JU members – to the end of this year Other members of the Czech Technology platform can use open calls Open Calls – we hope that will be announced also to the end of this year
