What is a bibliography? A bibliography is a list of books and other sources that have been used in your research.

Citations Every source listed in your bibliography is called a citation. The way a citation is listed will vary depending on the source used.

What kind of information do I need?

Where do I find this information?

In books, use the title page and the verso or copyright page.

For an encyclopedia article, the title and
copyright can be found on the spine of each volume. The author of the article is found at the end of the article in very small print.

For a magazine article, the author’s name is usually found underneath the title of the article. The date and year are found on the cover.

For an Internet source, there may or may not be an author
For an Internet source, there may or may not be an author. Look on the home page or the About Us page for citation information.

How do I list my source citations in a bibliography?
Sources are always listed in alphabetical order according to the first letter in the first word of each citation.
