Who was Eli Cohen? By: Esti Katzevman

Early life of Eli Cohen Eli was born in Egypt in the year of 1924.
He was in a lot of pro-Israeli activities. Eli worked for the Jewish Community until when he got expelled! When Eli was 29 he volunteered to work for the IIS (Israeli intelligence Service), but it wasn’t till a few more years they accepted his offer. By 1960 he started working for the Mossad Israel Secret Service.

ELI COHEN Soon he became a wealthy businessman who lived in Syria.
He had extraordinarily amazing party’s and invited his fellow businessman friends. His big brain and nice personality made him very popular.

The Golan Heights One of Eli’s most amazing accomplishments in life had nothing to do with his business in fact, it was planting trees. One day he visited the Golan Heights, not many people have the access to do that so he was lucky to get up there. To prove it, there are real pictures of him up there with his Syrian buddies!

Eli cohen (continue) Eli told his Syrian army friends that he couldn't stand his army friends that he couldn’t handle his hard working friends suffering from so much heat. He recommended planting trees next to each of the bunkers. Trees would help by providing shade and allowing them to fight better. The generals accepted this idea and started planting eucalyptus trees.

Eli cohen (continue) Eli continued to inform Israeli Intelligence about everything he knew. Over time the Israeli Intelligence service gained more and more information about Syria. Soon they knew where each bunker was. They used the trees as a guide.

Eli cohen (continue) Syria started to get suspicious feelings about information being sent to Israel. They decided to trace the transmissions. They traced this to Elis home. They broke into his house while he was transmitting something to Israel. He was then arrested and tortured. He was sentenced to death, and then publicly hanged on May 18.

Eli cohen was a hero because…
he gathered intelligence About Syria. He changed history for all Israeli’s. He sacrificed his life for Israel. He was a great Israeli spy.

they love me. they adore me. They made my schnitzel. My parents are my role- models. They put me in awesome summer camps. They put me in fun stuff like basketball and pottery. They help me with anything I need help with. Example: Homework. And more!!!
