Welcome to this evening where we hope to outline the transitional challenges and exciting opportunities afforded to Yr11 pupils in CSHS. I believe you have made a sound decision entrusting your child’s education to us, but acknowledge that you, as parents, still have a key role to play in the progress and attitudes to learning. 4 Expectations of Pupils
Attendance High standards of behaviour and appearance Effort - Be aware failure to complete Controlled Assessment is likely to result in withdrawal from a qualification – Parents will be invoiced for this and any exams that pupils fail to turn up for Involvement in school life Respect

You don’t have to be a subject specialist! Encourage and support Provide a suitable working environment - homework is vital. Routine Make sure you are aware of expectations in the Code of Conduct Ensure pupil attendance Your attendance at Parents Events

9 Attendance versus Attainment
100-95% attendance – drop of 1 GCSE Grade A 95-90% attendance – drop of 2 GCSEs grade B 90-85% attendance – drop 3 GCSEs grade C Less than 85% attendance – majority pupils will not achieve 5A*-C

10 90% Attendance = 10% Absence
On average, you are absent from lessons for one half day every week! 11 Communication with Home
Homework Diary Absence Making appointments – avoid these during the school day. This includes family holidays. Absence Notes Short absences: it is the pupil’s responsibility to catch up Let us know quickly if your child is absent Participation in PE School trips

18 Other Your role is vital!!
Underperformance/ poor attendance / poor behaviour will be challenged. You will be contacted and asked to attend school. Drop in sessions with the Principal each term EMA – link on Facebook page BoG – Parent Representatives from Lurgan and Portadown V band ICT – OCN not BTEC qualification
