6 Expectations Professional students School day starts at 8:55
Don’t have to wear a uniform but should look smart Coming here to work hard – using study periods effectively (marked on timetable as Es) Meet deadlines Stay organised – provide own materials Should also be working outside of school – Minimum of 5 hours per subject per week Take advantage of all opportunities

7 Curriculum Students have chosen three subjects
University requirements don’t go above this Possible extras - EPQ, Core Maths 9 hours per subject, per fortnight Most programmes run for full 2 years A-levels – all examination Vocational subjects – coursework & examinations AS-levels – Maths, Law, Government & Politics PHSCE – 1 hour per fortnight plus registration times

9 Key Milestones in year 12 Chunky assessment at end of September (week of 26th) Bridging work Any final course changes made at this point LP2 – week of Jan 23rd 2017 LP3 – week of June 19th 2017 Preparation for UCAS – July 2017 but will start much earlier (Unifrog November 2016) Work experience – July 2017 but the more the better Sixth form parents evening – 1st December Sixth form bursary – see Alison Anders

10 Super curriculum Students need to show evidence of interest beyond curriculum Wider reading, research, shows, films, audio books, magazines, journals, gallery visits, museums Work experience Arts Academy, Science Academy Wednesday afternoon is time for developing wider aspects of student

12 Opportunities Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award
Residential trips – last year New York (Arts), Paris (Maths), Peru (Student expedition) Lined up currently for this year London (English), Barcelona (Maths), Cern (Science Academy), Sestriere (Skiing), Galleries, Media City & Rambert Dance company (Arts Academy) Partnership with Warwick University EPQ – link to University of Leeds – amended UCAS offers Elite group (students with 3+ GCSE A* grades)

We are all here tonight for the same reason which is we want success for your children Good communication Full Attendance – if an issue please contact sixth form reception Concerns (or if things going really well!) – get in touch by phone or Works both ways – teachers may contact you too. Might be phone call, or school comms message Final message from me – As a year group Y12 have made a really encouraging start.
